VECAP in Lancaster University study on social risk amplification

Scientists from Lancaster University Management School (UK) have studied the VECAP programme in the context of a sociology study on the social amplification of risk process. The study paper published in December 2008 aims at investigating the mentality of actors involved in the programme in order to explain how VECAP is acting against the effect of social amplification of a perceived chemical risk. The study finds that, by enacting a credible, collective program of voluntary emission reduction, the industrial actors have been able to secure considerable results.
