North America

In 2006, VECAP was launched in the United States and Canada. The North American team has been actively educating stakeholders by organising workshops to introduce VECAP to regulators, NGOs, trade groups and other interested in chemicals management.

A significant number of Deca-BDE, HBCD and TBBPA users have committed to implementing the VECAP programme. They demonstrated their commitment by completing the VECAP questionnaire.They are also provided with the Code of Good Practice, Key Recommendations, as well as Best Available Techniques (BAT) for emptying packaging.

In the USA, a major VECAP participant has been honoured by an environmental award from the Society of Plastics Engineers.
